As a stylist, showing your work and getting more clients can be challenging.
The evolving and dynamic forms of media and social media becoming popular has tremendously impacted the number of potential clients that see stylist work. This week, we wanted to showcase some of the stylists here at No Label Studio to share their personal experiences with utilizing social media, the power of referrals, and how those referrals can help stylists grow.
Starting with Rio, owner of No Label Studio, she describes her experience and the growth of the business. The best way for clients to help her as a stylist and show that they love their hair is to post on social media. When clients post on social media, the posts make her feel like her work is appreciated and validated. It’s the modern way for clients to show that they appreciate their stylist, which may result in referrals from the clients’ followers. So, if you’re a client, please take selfies of your hair and post them on social media! If clients post to social media, it’s excellent when No Label Studio and the stylist’s Instagram are tagged to allow their followers to click on the accounts and see their content. There’s also no such thing as posting too much about how much you love and appreciate your hair.
Personally, Rio would rather a client post on social media and refer to their friends and family rather than receive a tip after a service. Rio feels like being a stylist is being like an artist- when people tell their friends and family that your art is good, it’s the best feeling in the world. Rio pours her heart into her work, so when people want to share and tell their friends about her work, it makes the outcome of her hard work very rewarding and fulfilling.
Regarding business growth, the Facebook page Zionsville Moms has been a considerable aspect for No Label Studio. Rio estimates around 90% of business has come from clients referring her and the salon on this Facebook page. Thank you to all our clients who have helped this business grow. You allowed our staff to increase from one stylist to 12 in five years.
Ashli, a stylist who has worked at No Label Studio for a few years, also loves when her clients refer her to their friends and families. It makes her feel so loved and supported when a new client is referred by one of her established clients. She also loves it when clients post photos, tag her online or comment her name on a thread asking about salons. Word of mouth is always the best way to support Ashli. She says it really makes a difference in her business, and it means so, so much. “It helps me build by people bringing their friends! It fills my books, and I love seeing everyone’s friends in here!”
Maddie, another stylist who has been working at No Label Studio for quite a while, affirms that referrals are everything to her. She thinks it’s crazy how much social media has influenced retaining new clients just by posting a picture and tagging her or shouting her out on places like Zionsville Moms or other Facebook pages. Maddie says that it is “an awesome and affirming feeling when someone shares how much they love their hair.”
Mya, a baby stylist at No Label Studio, agrees that referrals are the best tip that clients can give her. Mya is moving to California in a few weeks, so this move has encouraged her to never give up on the hard work she has put into her career. Mya recognizes that money isn’t her main priority, her main priority is getting more clients. “I love being able to have connections with clients even though I’m moving when I move back home, I know that they are still going to want me!”
Cassidy, our final stylist who has worked at No Label Studio for several years, identifies that the best thing a client can do is refer her to prospective clients. She doesn’t mind whom her clients are referring. It can be your mom, friend, or neighbor. She also noted that Zionsville Moms is a great place to comment about her when others are asking for recommendations for stylists and any other page clients may be a part of. “It’s the best knowing someone loves their hair and they love it so much they just have to tell other people about you!”
The main message from Rio, Ashli, Maddie, Mya, and Cassidy is that clients who refer their stylists are the primary way to show your stylist love and appreciation. The next time you’re in for an appointment, ask your stylist to take a picture of the finished product of your hair so you can quickly post it to your social media! As always, we appreciate all our clients so much. We are here today because of all your referrals and your loyalty! We appreciate you more than anything!
Tried, True & Trending Product of the Week:
Kevin Murphy Balancing Wash
Rio loves this shampoo because it does a great job cleansing the hair and works great with people whose hair gets greasy easily. The balancing shampoo is great for people who wash their hair every day because it does not strip or dry out hair. It is one of the favorite shampoos at No Label because it doesn’t have harsh detergents, and it is pH balanced for a healthy scalp.
